High-fidelity human simulation technology
Medical Innovation Technology Center (MEDITEC) integrates human simulation technology in a way that intercepts science curriculum, connecting biology, anatomy and physiology in a real-world setting. This technology provides a unique opportunity for experimentation and inquiry in understanding the practice of medicine. Specific case scenarios accentuate classroom curriculum and problem-solving exercises chosen to foster biomedical literacy and an interest in science and scientific inquiry. The MEDITEC curriculum is designed in collaboration with classroom teachers from participating districts and aligned to their scope and sequence.
The goals of the MEDITEC Program are to:
Provide students with a hands-on learning experience in medical simulation with high-fidelity human patient simulators;
Increase student’s awareness of medical careers and pathways;
Reinforce core content being taught in the classroom; and
Support STAAR mastery though deliberate and intentional TEKS alignment and instruction
