ENCORE Southwest Educational Convocation
May 4 & 5, 2012

Organized by Texas Valley Communities Foundation in conjunction with the Office of U.S. Congressman Rubén Hinojosa, the Engaging Communities for College Readiness (ENCORE) Southwest Educational Convocation brings together key stakeholders to share best practices and lessons learned among schools, organizations and administrators in the area of college and career readiness.

Hundreds of Hispanic secondary students and their parents participate in self-selective career tracks that include interactive college tours, bilingual hands-on-career investigation sessions and customized workshops in college readiness, leadership development and different career paths.

For the past three years, ENCORE has partnered with numerous key shareholders including community-based "grassroots" organizations, educational entities and Fortune 500 corporations providing a great line up of motivational and dynamic speakers to conduct student and parent sessions on college readiness, while having the opportunity to explore different career paths and interact with college students, professional industry mentors and university professors.

The overall goals of the ENCORE Southwest Educational Convocation are to:

  • Promote the importance of higher education and college readiness
  • Introduce students and parents to career opportunities from growing industries
  • Provide parents with guidance and support to improve student achievement

Join us and be part of the ENCORE Southwest Educational Convocation as we inspire to develop the next generation of Hispanic professionals.
